In order for a USDA NOP-certified product to be equivalent to COR standards, it needs to be accompanied by an attestation that declares equivalency. The attestation confirms the following:
- The product was not produced using sodium nitrate (Chilean nitrate).
- The product was not grown using hydroponic or aeroponic production methods.
- Agricultural products derived from animals (with the exception of ruminants) were raised according to livestock stocking rates set out in Canada’s Organic Standards (CAN/CGSB 32.310 - 2015).
