The Organic Federation of Canada (OFC) and Canadian Organic Growers (COG) have collaborated to update the Guide to Canadian Organic Standards. This work is a companion project to the revisions of the Canadian Organic Standards.
The Guide to Canadian Organic Standards is intended to help producers, processors, and stakeholders understand the 2026 Canadian Organic Standards. It incorporates the changes made in terms of required practices and permitted substances. The Guide to Organic Principles and Management Standards - CAN/CGSB-32.310 and the Guide to Lists of Permitted Substances - CAN/CGSB-32.311 are included in this publication.
Inside the guide, you will find explanations, examples, and clarifications pertaining to practices and permitted substances, and you will find that the guide also reflects the interpretation of the standards by the Standards Interpretation Committee (AGRI-SIC). You will also find a Q&A with answers to additional questions.
Since the new 2026 Canadian Organic Standards must be adopted within the one-year grace period provided, the Guide to Canadian Organic Standards is a resource that will help organic operators to continue with their successful organic operations.
