On October 3rd, head to Rafter P Ranch in Merritt for a hands-on day of learning, connection, and practical insights into regenerative ranching and soil health.
This field day will highlight no-till seeding, multi-species cover cropping, bale grazing techniques, and fencing for rotational grazing—all practical tools to improve yields, reduce weeds, build healthier soils, and strengthen livestock management.
The hosts, ranchers Nelson & Danielle Patry, will be on hand to discuss their first-hand experience with these tools and techniques including the challenges they have faced and the benefits they have experienced.
Also, hear from:
- Regional Agrologist Emma Holmes on soil biology and nutrient cycling
- Ryan Comeau, agrologist and seed sales representative from Covers and Co. on multi-species mixes
- Grazing Mentor Julia Smith from the Small-Scale Meat Producers Association who will discuss rotational grazing, bale grazing and demonstrate some useful electric fencing tools & techniques
