Q. Why is being certified organic important to you and your business?
A. Being certified is encouraging to people who buy our products because they know we’ve done our homework and that the food we produce is as healthy as we can make it. And it helps the farmer make a bit more for the effort.
Q. What are the most important principles or philosophies that guide your company?
A. To have a safe farm/home environment without deadly sprays and so forth is important to us, especially as we have a young family. Another one is that we strive to grow quality food for people. It feels like we are an asset to the world as a whole when we can do this.
Q. What specific questions did you have when learning about organic certification?
A. We wondered how time consuming the paper work would be. But once a person has a system in place it really doesn’t take too much time.
Q. If someone you know is thinking of certifying organic, what advice would you give?
A. Do something simple first.
Q. Why did you choose PACS as your certifying body?
A. PACS has made the most sense for us as it is founded in BC and the fees and requirements are manageable.
